Paralives is a goal-driven life simulation game where your Parafolks can work towards different objectives over time. Goals help give your household direction, whether your Para is settling into a new home, building a career, starting a family, developing relationships, or completing activities around town.
This guide explains how goals work in Paralives, where to find them, how to complete them, and how they connect to XP, levelling, newspapers, notice boards, careers, skills, and everyday gameplay.
What Are Goals in Paralives?
Goals are objectives that your Parafolks can complete during gameplay. Some goals are short and simple, while others are longer-term and require more planning.
Paras can have multiple goals active at the same time. Completed goals can also be shown or hidden using a toggle in the Goals menu.
Completing goals gives your Para XP, which is used for levelling up.
Where Do Goals Come From?
Goals can come from several places in Paralives.
| Goal Source | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Storyteller choices | Your Storyteller can offer long-term goals at night |
| Newspaper listings | Some newspaper listings can be accepted and turned into goals |
| Notice boards | Notice boards around the world can offer new daily goals |
| Gameplay objectives | Some goals ask you to complete everyday tasks such as finding a job, cooking, or decorating |
Storyteller Goals
At the end of each day, your Storyteller can offer goal choices. Your Storyteller may be Stella, Maxence, or Ricardo Castello III.
The game first gives you a choice of three categories. After choosing a category, you are given three cards to choose from. These can give your Para a long-term goal.
On the first night, example long-term goal options included:
| Goal | Objectives |
|---|---|
| Breadwinner | Reach level 5 of a job and earn a daily salary of 500 paradimes |
| Stepping Into Romance | Gain romantic interest in someone, gain friend level with someone you have romantic interest in, and have a first kiss |
| New Family | Try for baby, give birth, and buy a crib for the baby |
Only one option is chosen, and that goal is then added to your Para’s active goals.
Important: The Game Does Not Pause Automatically
When accepting goals or using menus, Paralives does not automatically pause. If you are reading through goal options, checking menus, or comparing choices, it is worth pausing the game manually first.
This is especially useful when you are still learning the system and want time to read everything properly.
Where To Find Your Goals
The left-hand menu gives access to different parts of your Para’s life. The Goals menu shows active goals, and it includes a toggle for completed goals.
| Menu | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Profile | Para level, name, ageing bar, stats, vibe, social perk, talent, and lifestyles |
| Goals | Active goals, with a toggle for completed goals |
| Household inventory and collections | Items gathered, found, picked up, or stored |
| Relationships | Relationship details, including icons such as co-worker |
| Occupations | Job details, vacation days, performance, perks, and career requirements |
| Skills | Skill categories and breakdowns |
| Thoughts | Hides the menu and shows the cards your Para is feeling |
Goal Example: Settle Home
Settle Home is an early goal that helps your Para begin everyday life.

| Place a decorative item in your home | Click the house icon at the bottom of the screen, go to decor, place any decorative item, then return to gameplay. |
| Cook a meal | Click on the fridge and choose a meal your Para can currently make. Available meals depend on the equipment in the kitchen. |
Reward: +10 XP
This XP goes towards levelling up your Para.
Goal Example: Home Is Where the Plants Are
Home Is Where the Plants Are is a home-focused goal.
| Task | Notes |
|---|---|
| Buy 6 new interior plants | The plant shop has a free plant every day, which can help with this goal. |
Goal Example: Breadwinner
Breadwinner is a career-focused goal.
| Task |
|---|
| Reach job rank 5 |
| Earn a daily salary of 500 paradimes |
This goal is useful for players who want their Para to focus on work, career progress, and earning money.
Goal Example: Stepping Into Romance
Stepping Into Romance is a relationship-focused goal.
| Task |

| Try for baby |
| Give birth |
| Buy a crib for the baby |
This goal is useful for players who want to begin family gameplay early.
Notice Board Goals
There are notice boards in different areas of the world. These notice boards can have goals, and new goals appear every day.
Because of this, notice boards are worth checking regularly. They can give your Para extra activities and help guide what to do next.
Newspaper Goals
The newspaper runs every day in Paralives. It helps you keep track of what day you are on in gameplay, and it also shows the day of the week, season, and year.
The newspaper can also show things happening in town.
| Newspaper Feature | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Listings | Some listings can be accepted and turned into goals |
| Town events | Some events can be shown on the map so your Para can travel there |
One example is a mayor welcome listing that shares activities to do around town. Accepting this listing turns it into a goal.
Another example is an astronomy club event at the Mountain Top Pearl. The newspaper gives the option to show it on the map.
Goals and XP
Completing goals gives XP. XP is used to level up your Para.
This means goals are not just optional tasks. They also contribute to your Para’s wider progression.
Goals and Levelling Up
When your Para gains enough XP, they can level up. Under the Profile menu, the number showing your Para’s level can be clicked. This opens a choice of level-up cards.
Example level-up choices recorded so far include:
| Level-Up Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| Jack of All Trades Mastery | Gives +1 learning speed if you have at least 5 skills at level 5 |
| Better Knowledge | Knowledge skills progress at a base speed of 2 instead of 1 when working on an associated skill |
On day one, Better Knowledge was the more useful choice because the Para had barely any skills yet.
Goals and Careers
Some goals connect directly to jobs and career progress.
To find a job, click on your Para and use the phone, then select Find Job. You can also use a computer and click Find Job.
Jobs are rabbit holes. Your Para travels to the building where their job takes place, goes to work, then comes out again.
Work schedules can be changed in the job menu.
The Occupations menu shows job information such as:
| Occupation Menu Detail |
|---|
| Vacation days |
| Performance |
| Perks |
| What your Para needs to do to move forward in their career |
Goals and Skills
Some goals connect to skills. Skills can be learned by reading books, using a computer, or doing related tasks.
Examples of skills include:
| Skill | Related Areas |
|---|---|
| Music | Guitar, piano, triangle |
| Food | Cooking |
| Fitness | Exercise, dance |
| Technology | Programming, graphic design |
| Art | Painting |
| Repair | No current extras recorded |
| Science | Surgery, biology, astronomy |
The Skills menu can break a skill down further. For example, Music shows guitar, piano, and triangle separately.
Tips for Managing Goals
| Tip | Why It Helps |

Final Thoughts
Goals are one of the main ways Paralives gives structure to everyday gameplay. They help guide what your Para should do next, while still leaving plenty of room for storytelling and player choice.
Some goals focus on careers, while others focus on romance, family, home life, or town activities. Since goals reward XP, they are also connected to levelling up your Para and unlocking new progression choices.
For new players, it is worth checking the Goals menu, newspaper, and notice boards regularly. Together, they help turn each day into something more than just keeping needs filled and hoping your Para does not wander into chaos wearing formal shoes.
