“Small kingdoms rise, old gods fade, and honour is earned through loyalty and battle.”
Historical Context
After the fall of Roman Britain, Germanic tribes — the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes — arrived, building independent kingdoms. Roman cities declined, roads crumbled, and small farming villages took over. Christianity began spreading across the land, reshaping laws and customs, though pagan rituals endured in rural areas. Rival kings fought constantly, ruling through warfare and loyalty rather than centralised law.
