There are several ways to cheat death in The Sims 4. Some are 100% reliable, others are risky or pack gated. Use the quick list to pick your route, then follow the steps.

Ambrosia

Brings a ghost back to life when they eat it, and resets a living Sim to the start of their current life stage.

Pack needed: Base Game
You need:

• Cooking level 10
• Gourmet Cooking level 10
• 1 Angelfish
• 1 Death Flower
• 1 Potion of Youth

Steps:

1. Gather the ingredients in your Sim’s inventory or fridge.
2. Click a cooker, choose Make Ambrosia.
3. Put the plate on a table.
4. Have the ghost Sim select and eat it.

Tips:

• Buy the Potion of Youth from the Rewards Store.
• Grow a Death Flower by grafting Pomegranate to Orchid.
• Angelfish can be fished from certain spots if you need one for later.

Dedeathify spell

Instant resurrection for ghosts.

Pack needed: Realm of Magic (Game Pack)
You need: Spellcaster who has mastered the Untamed school and learned Dedeathify.

Steps:

1. Switch control to the Spellcaster.
2. Target the ghost Sim and cast Dedeathify.

Notes:

• If the caster is Dangerously Overcharged, wait or Discharge first to avoid backfire.

Gift Grim a Death Flower

Guaranteed success during the reaping.

Pack needed: Base Game
You need: Any Sim on the lot with a Death Flower in their inventory.

Steps:

1. When a Sim dies, wait for Grim to appear.
2. Before the reaping finishes, click Grim and choose Give Gift then Death Flower.
3. Grim accepts and returns the dying Sim to life.

Gift Grim a Death Frog

High chance to succeed during the reaping.

Pack needed: Life & Death
You need: A Death Frog in a Sim’s inventory.

Steps:

1. Find a Death Frog by using Look for Frogs at logs and ponds, searching around midnight improves your odds.
2. During a reaping, click Grim and gift the Death Frog.
3. There is a high chance Grim accepts and revives the Sim.

Save a Life with Ghost Powers

Helpful ghosts can negotiate a revival.

Pack needed: Life & Death
You need: A playable ghost who has the Helpful Ghost power called Grim’s Ride-or-Die.

Steps:

1. When a Sim is dying from any cause except Old Age, select the ghost.
2. Click Grim and use Save a Life.
3. This has a 100% success rate.

Wishing Well

Wish for life. Can succeed or backfire.

Pack needed: Romantic Garden Stuff
You need: A Wishing Well placed on the lot.

Steps:

1. With the ghost present, click the well and choose Wish for Life.
2. Outcome depends on the well’s mood. Happy is best, hooded face is risky.

Notes:

• You can sweeten the odds by feeding the well simoleons first.
• A failed wish can curse your Sim.

The Book of Life

Insurance policy you set up while the Sim is alive.

Pack needed: Base Game
You need: A Sim who completed the Bestselling Author aspiration.

Steps to prepare:

1. On a computer choose Write then The Book of Life.
2. After writing, click the book and Capture Epic Saga of another living Sim. The book is now bound to them.

Steps to resurrect:

1. After that Sim dies, have the author click the book and Summon the bound Sim’s ghost.
2. With the ghost selected, click the book and Read it to return to life.

Notes:

• You must bind the book before the death.
• The author must own and use the book.

How to plead with Grim

A last chance appeal during the reaping.

Pack needed: Base Game
You need: Any Sim on the lot who can reach Grim in time.

Steps:

1. When Grim appears, pause and get a Sim nearby.
2. Click Grim and choose Plead. You only get one attempt.
3. Success is more likely if the pleader has high Charisma, is Confident, or has a strong relationship with the dying Sim.

Extra tips:

• Queuing a Flirt on Grim before you plead can help.
• If you fail, the urn or tombstone forms and the chance is gone.

Challenge Grim to a game

Win the game to win back a life.

Pack needed: Life & Death
You need: One of the listed games already placed on the lot when death occurs.

Eligible games and packs:

• Chess, Base Game
• Darts, Get Together
• Don’t Wake the Llama, Get Together
• Foosball, Get Together
• Basketball Hoop, City Living
  • Hoops Contest
  • Dunk Contest
• Ping Pong, Discover University
  • Ping Pong
  • Juice Pong

Steps:

1. While Grim is present, click the placed game and choose to Challenge Grim.
2. If your Sim wins, the dying Sim is revived.
3. Odds are weighted in Grim’s favour, but it is possible to win.

FAQ

Does Ambrosia make elders younger
Ambrosia resets a living Sim to the beginning of their current life stage. It does not jump them to a younger stage.

Can you revive a Sim who died of Old Age
Yes with Ambrosia, Death Flower to Grim, Book of Life, Wishing Well or by winning Grim’s game. The ghost power method does not apply to Old Age.

Do revived Sims keep relationships and skills
Yes. They return with the same skills and relationships they had at death.

How long do I have to act
You need to use gifts, pleading or the game challenge while Grim is still reaping. Once the urn or tombstone appears, switch to options that work after death, such as Ambrosia, Dedeathify, Book of Life or the Wishing Well.
