It’s perfect for Sims who want to blend supernatural research with storytelling, building bonds with spirits and uncovering long-buried secrets. This aspiration follows a storytelling arc: meeting ghosts, learning Thanatology, exploring crypts, and finally turning your eerie findings into bestselling horror novels.

Whether you’re a curious scholar, a wannabe ghost hunter, or just a bit haunted yourself, this aspiration taps into the deepest corners of Ravenwood.

Aspiration Milestones

Stage 1: Getting in the Spirit

Task	Tips
Befriend a Ghost	Visit Ravenwood, especially Mourningvale. Introduce yourself and build a strong relationship.
Achieve Level 2 Thanatology Skill	Study via computers or skill books. Sims in the Undertaker or Grim Reaper careers gain this skill naturally.
Achieve Level 2 Writing Skill	Practice Writing on a computer or read writing skill books to progress faster.

Stage 2: Writer Among Wraiths

Task	Tips
Befriend Another Ghost	Keep socialising at night in crypt-adjacent areas. Friendly Sims will progress faster.
Find a Rare Item in a Crypt	Crypts can be found in Ravenwood or bought via Build Mode (“Crypt of Eternity”). Click to explore and hope for a lucky return.
Achieve Level 3 Thanatology Skill	Continue studying and ghost interactions. Try talking about death or using research options.
Achieve Level 4 Writing Skill	Keep up with daily writing or start basic books to speed this up. Use the Focused emotion for best gains.

Stage 3: Phantasmal Fantasy

Task	Tips
Find a Rare Item in a Crypt	You’ll need at least 2 rare finds by the end. Retry crypt exploration until successful.
Make Contact with Edith	Find Alice at the Guardian Tree. Select “Ask About Alice’s Sorrow” to begin the quest chain. Contacting Edith completes the goal.
Achieve Level 7 Writing Skill	Level 7 unlocks the ability to write Horror Books key for the final stage. Prioritise writing over practice.

Stage 4: Spectrally Spectacular

Task	Tips
Write a Horror Book	Only available at Writing Level 7. Horror Books are required, not other genres.
Earn Royalties from Publishing Books	Publish 3 Horror Books and earn at least §2,000 total royalties. Submit via mailbox or computer.

Reward Trait: Ghost Whisperer

Upon completion, your Sim gains the Ghost Whisperer trait:

• Unlocks special ghost-themed interactions and ghost discussions
• Builds friendships (or romantic bonds!) with ghosts more easily
• Becomes excited around ghosts, spectres, crows, and even Grim Reaper sightings
• Boosted impact from ghostly experiences when writing Horror Books

• Haunted Locations: Try living in or visiting Mourningvale or Crow’s Crossing for consistent ghost events
• Thanatology Shortcut: Join the Undertaker or Grim Reaper career to level Thanatology while earning
• Book Spam Trick: Write short books to boost royalty income. Submit a few per day for best returns
• Rare Crypt Items: The item your Sim finds depends on interaction choices. Brave, Logical, or Equipped Sims do better!
