Sims transforming into werewolves in Moonwood Mill under the full moon in The Sims 4: Werewolves.

Werewolf Guide – The Sims 4: Werewolves Game Pack

The Sims 4: Werewolves introduces one of the most dynamic occult life states in the series. Whether your Sim embraces their inner beast or fights to keep it under control, this guide covers everything from turning into a werewolf to unlocking abilities, managing fury, and exploring Moonwood Mill’s packs and secrets.

Quick Summary

  • Life State: Permanent occult (can be cured)
  • Pack Required: The Sims 4: Werewolves
  • How to Become One: Bite or inherit the curse
  • Core Mechanic: Fury, Temperaments, and Abilities
  • World: Moonwood Mill
  • Unique Skills: Scavenging, Tunnelling, Howling, Super Speed
  • Occult Type: Hybrid restrictions apply (cannot combine with Vampires, Spellcasters, etc.)

How to Become a Werewolf

There are three main ways to gain lycanthropy.

MethodHow it works
Ask for the Cursed BiteBefriend an existing werewolf with the Cursed Bite ability. When the bite is given, your Sim will experience painful transformation over a few hours.
Werebies (infection)Visit Moonwood Mill’s underground tunnels or brawl with infected werewolves; occasionally you’ll contract Werebies. This can be cured at the bar before full transformation.
Born a WerewolfChildren of werewolf parents may inherit the trait and transform on becoming a Teen.

To remove the curse, drink the Wolf-B-Gone Cure potion crafted with Lunar Epiphany knowledge.

Stages of Transformation

StageDescription
Cursed SimInfection or bite received; random moodlets, growing fury.
New WerewolfGains basic powers and starts earning ability points.
Experienced WerewolfMid-tier abilities unlocked; fury builds faster.
Prime WerewolfMost abilities accessible; can mentor others.
Apex WerewolfFull mastery of the curse; optional cure available.

Core Needs and Fury

Werewolves have the same motives as normal Sims, but Fury replaces part of their emotional control. It builds naturally over time and through triggers called Temperaments.

FactorIncreases Fury
Full MoonRapid increase; transforms automatically
Negative emotionsTense, Angry, Embarrassed
Ignoring primal needsNot running, howling, or marking territory
TemperamentsUnique traits gained randomly or through gameplay

When Fury maxes out, your Sim will rampage, losing player control until it subsides.

Werewolf Abilities

Abilities are purchased with points earned through werewolf activities. Each ability has a practical or social use.

TierExamples of Unlocks
Tier 1Scavenger (dig collectibles), Territory Marking, Howl, Wolf Nap
Tier 2Pack Howl, Somber Howl (reduce Fury), Enhanced Smell, Tunnel Travel
Tier 3Night Vision, Super Speed, Hunter’s Instinct, Curse Bearer
Tier 4Lunar Howl (change temperaments), Immortal Wolf, Vicious Howl
Tier 5Apex powers: Alpha dominance, Transformation mastery, Resistance to rampage

Temperaments

Each werewolf has between 3 and 5 temperaments, which affect how quickly Fury rises and how your wolf behaves.

Example TemperamentEffect
Full Moon FrenzyFury builds extremely fast during full moons.
PridefulFeels angry if scolded or dismissed.
Night WolfFury decreases when awake at night.
Wracked with GuiltFeels sad after rampages.
Survival InstinctsLess fury gain from negative emotions.

Temperaments can be reshuffled by using the Lunar Howl ability.

Packs and Social Structure

Moonwood Mill has two main werewolf packs. Joining one defines your Sim’s identity and unlocks unique abilities.

Earn trust through sparring, contributing to pack resources, and following the pack’s values.

The Lunar Cycle

The full moon heavily influences werewolf gameplay. It increases Fury and triggers automatic transformations. Sims can observe moon phases on the calendar, and build relationships or craft potions based on lunar alignment.

Certain activities (like scavenging for moonpetals) only appear at night under the full moon.

Cross-Pack Integration

PackEffect
Realm of MagicCannot hybridise, but Spellcaster enemies make strong duelling targets.
VampiresAdds rival dynamics and cross-pack storytelling potential.
SeasonsFury interacts with weather moodlets; rain may reduce rampage frequency.
Get to WorkAlien abductions and lunar phases make storytelling richer.
