2. Fire
Burns from cooking, upgrades, fireworks and open flames.

How It Happens: Kitchen fires, fireplaces, fireworks indoors, failed upgrades.
Prevention: Smoke alarm, tidy stove area, better Cooking and Handiness, extinguish fast.

3. Drowning
Runs out of energy in deep water.
Required Pack: Base Game
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Swim while Exhausted or with needs in the red, especially with exits blocked.
Prevention: Keep Energy up, add clear exits, get out to rest.
Ghost effect: Drips water and leaves small puddles.
4. Hunger
Starves after ignoring hunger too long.
Required Pack: Base Game
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Hunger hits critical and stays there.
Prevention: Quick meals, auto-solve needs, carry snacks, avoid long tasks when Very Hungry.
Ghost effect: Gaunt, clutching stomach. Obsessed with fridges and food.
5. Cowplant
Eaten by a hungry Cowplant after taking the cake bait.
Required Pack: Base Game
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Take the “cake” when the Cowplant is unfed. A second attempt soon after a spit-out can be fatal.
Prevention: Keep the Cowplant fed, fence it off, never take the cake.
Ghost effect: Slimy, drooly look. Interacts with the Cowplant a lot.
6. Meteorite
Crushed by a falling space rock while sky-watching.
Required Pack: Base Game
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Rare event during stargazing or moongazing outdoors after an ominous warning.
Prevention: Go indoors when warned. Cancel sky-watching if the sky looks strange.
Ghost effect: Dusty impact shimmer with drifting debris. Stares upward.
7. Old Age
Natural end of life for elders.
Required Pack: Base Game
Who Can Die: Elder only
How It Happens: Elder life stage timer ends.
Prevention: None within Base Game rules.
Ghost effect: Soft, pale aura. Calm behaviour.
8. Overexertion
Elder overdoes it and the heart gives out.
Required Pack: Base Game
Who Can Die: Elder only
How It Happens: Intense workouts or repeated WooHoo when already Tired or Uncomfortable.
Prevention: Rest between strenuous activities, avoid heavy workouts with low needs.
Ghost effect: Wheezy, chest-clutch idle. Tires quickly.
9. Anger (Cardiac Explosion)
Required Pack: Base Game
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Stack Angry moodlets until Enraged. Common triggers include arguments, mean socials, smashed items, and Angry décor.
Prevention: Use Try to Calm Down (mirror), take a Cold Shower, leave the argument, remove Angry décor.
Ghost effect: Red aura, stompy animations, prone to starting fights.
10. Embarrassment (Mortified)
Required Pack: Base Game
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Stack Embarrassed moodlets until Mortified. Triggers include walking in on someone, wardrobe failures, peeing self, failed flirts.
Prevention: Hide from Everyone (bed), change outfit, step away from crowds, wait it out in a private room.
Ghost effect: Purple blushy tint, hides face, avoids others.
11. Laughter (Hysteria)
Required Pack: Base Game
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Stack Playful moodlets until Hysterical. Triggers include comedy sprees, playful décor and paintings, playful TV and jokes.
Prevention: Leave playful rooms, switch to neutral or Focused activities, nap or sleep to clear moodlets.
Ghost effect: Bright, giggly aura; makes nearby Sims more playful.
12. Pufferfish Nigiri
Deadly food poisoning from poor-quality pufferfish sushi.
Required Pack: City Living
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder. Not Mermaids, Aliens, Servos, or Vampires.
How It Happens: Eat poor-quality Pufferfish Nigiri. Chance increases if the Sim is already in a bad mood. Sims can learn the recipe by buying it at San Myshuno food stalls, then risk cooking a low-quality version at home. Many guides cite about 50% death chance on poor quality.
Prevention: Only eat Excellent quality; improve Cooking before making it; avoid when Uncomfortable; don’t serve it to occult Sims you can’t kill this way if that’s the goal.
Ghost effect: Distinct “poisoned” look; players commonly notice a tiny pufferfish swimming inside the ghost’s chest.
13. Freezing
Cold exposure during winter weather.
Required Pack: Seasons
Who Can Die: Child to Elder
How It Happens: Stay outdoors in snow or cold rain without a cold weather outfit. Swim or get wet in freezing conditions.
Prevention: Wear a cold weather outfit, go indoors to warm up, set the thermostat to warmer.
Ghost effect: Frosty blue tint with visible breath; chills nearby Sims.
14. Overheating
Heat exposure during hot weather.
Required Pack: Seasons
Who Can Die: Child to Elder
How It Happens: Stay outside in a heatwave wearing heavy or inappropriate clothes. Sit in saunas or crank the home thermostat too hot during a heatwave.
Prevention: Wear a hot weather outfit, find shade and cold drinks, set the thermostat cooler.
Ghost effect: Red glow with heat shimmer; warms nearby Sims.
15. Lightning
Struck during thunderstorms.
Required Pack: Seasons
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Remain outside during storms, especially while holding an umbrella. Repeated strikes after gaining the Charged moodlet increase risk.
Prevention: Go indoors during storms, put away umbrellas, avoid open high ground and tall trees.
Ghost effect: Charred look with flickering sparks; occasionally zaps objects.
16. Flowers (Killer Bouquet)
Scented arrangement with a Death Flower.
Required Pack: Seasons
Who Can Die: Elder dies on gift. Other life stages are aged up rather than killed.
How It Happens: Reach Flower Arranging level 9. Craft a bouquet, choose Scent With: Death Flower, then Gift it to an Elder Sim.
Prevention: Do not scent bouquets with Death Flower, do not accept suspicious gifts, keep Death Flowers for safe uses only.
Ghost effect: Drifting petals and a sweet floral aura.
17. Drowning (Exotic Water Garden)
Death in the Luminary’s Exotic Water Garden pond.
Required Pack: Get Famous
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Place the Luminary’s Exotic Water Garden and stock it with sharks, piranhas, or sprites, then have a Sim jump in or swim. There is a chance they are pulled under and drown; survivors often gain a Confident moodlet.
Prevention: Do not stock the pond with predators, fence it off, cancel swimming when Energy is low.
Ghost effect: Drips water with a bluish tint and leaves small puddles.
18. Fire (Volcanic Activity)
Volcano fallout and hot lava bombs can ignite Sims.
Required Pack: Island Living
Who Can Die: Child to Elder
How It Happens: Enable the Volcanic Activity lot challenge in Sulani. When a lava bomb lands, a Sim who touches or inspects it while it is hot can catch fire. Nearby impacts can also start fires.
Prevention: Disable the lot challenge, wait for lava bombs to cool before interacting, keep a shower or fire extinguisher handy.
Ghost effect: Ember glow with smoke wisps. Drawn to fire sources.
19. Drowning (Siren’s Call)
Mermaids lure victims into deep water and drain their needs.
Required Pack: Island Living
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder. Not Mermaids
How It Happens: A Mermaid uses Siren’s Call on a Sim, pulling them into deeper ocean. Needs plummet; if they do not reach shore in time, they drown.
Prevention: Stay on land or in shallow water, cancel the interaction and head for shore, keep needs high, become a Mermaid for immunity.
Ghost effect: Drips water with a bluish tint and leaves small puddles.
20. Drowning (Ocean Sharks)
Shark attack in Sulani’s deep ocean.
Required Pack: Island Living
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder. Not Mermaids
How It Happens: Swim or snorkel in deep water off Sulani coasts (for example, Mua Pel’am or Lani St. Taz). A shark encounter can pull the Sim under; if they do not recover, it counts as drowning.
Prevention: Avoid deep water, keep Energy and needs high, get out at the first warning, stick to beaches and shallow areas.
Ghost effect: Drips water with a bluish tint and leaves small puddles.
21. Flies (Swarmed by Flies)
Overrun by a filthy swarm.
Required Pack: Eco Lifestyle
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Live or rummage in severe squalor, especially with overflowing trash or dirty dumpsters. Using Bond with Flies near a big swarm can trigger a lethal attack.
Prevention: Keep lots clean, empty bins, avoid dumpster diving when Hygiene is low, cancel Bond with Flies.
Ghost effect: Constant fly cloud; leaves grime and upsets tidy Sims.
22. Beetle Juice
Toxic bug drink overdose.
Required Pack: Eco Lifestyle
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Harvest beetle nuggets from the Insect Farm after nurturing. At Mixology level 10, craft Beetle Juice at a bar. Drinking three in quick succession can cause death.
Prevention: Do not drink Beetle Juice, or limit to one serving. Skip if already Uncomfortable or sick.
Ghost effect: Sickly green tint with occasional bug effects.
23. Falling from Heights
Fatal fall on Mt. Komorebi.
Required Pack: Snowy Escape
Who Can Die: Young Adult to Elder
How It Happens: Attempt high-difficulty routes or the mountain excursion with low Rock Climbing skill, poor gear preparation, bad weather, or when Exhausted or Injured. The risk increases the higher you climb.
Prevention: Level Rock Climbing before the summit attempt, equip and apply climbing gear, chalk hands, check conditions, avoid storms, and rest to clear Sore or Injured moodlets.
Ghost effect: Frosted and bruised look; stumbles and winces.
24. Vending Machine
Crushed while shaking a stubborn vending machine.
Required Pack: Snowy Escape
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: An item gets stuck. Use Shake to dislodge it. The first crush gives the Close Call moodlet. Shaking again while that moodlet is active can be fatal.
Prevention: Do not shake while Close Call is active, try purchasing again later, keep needs in good shape to reduce failures.
Ghost effect: Cool blue tint with vending icons; may jingle and drop simoleons.
25. Killer Chicken
Mean chickens peck your Sim to death.
Required Pack: Cottage Living
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Repeated mean interactions or low relationship with a chicken can provoke a lethal attack.
Prevention: Be friendly, feed treats, raise relationship, avoid taunting.
Ghost effect: Feathers swirl; pecking idles.
26. Killer Rabbit
An angry wild rabbit finishes the job.
Required Pack: Cottage Living
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Repeated mean interactions or low relationship with a rabbit can trigger a deadly mauling.
Prevention: Gift produce, pet and chat to build friendship, avoid scaring or shooing.
Ghost effect: Bits of fluff drift; skittish movements.
27. Stink Capsule
Locker prank backfires fatally.
Required Pack: High School Years
Who Can Die: Teen only
How It Happens: Plant a stink capsule. The first backfire gives Self Stinked. If another backfire happens while that moodlet is active, the Sim dies.
Prevention: Stop pranking while Self Stinked, shower first, let the moodlet clear.
Ghost effect: Green stink cloud and coughs.
28. Urban Myth
Summoning the myth twice is one time too man
Required Pack: High School Years
Who Can Die: Teen only
How It Happens: Reach Mischief 8, Summon Urban Myth on a Sim to get Scared. Perform it again while still Scared to trigger death.
Prevention: Calm down, leave the area, wait for the Scared moodlet to end.
Ghost effect: Flickering shadows and whispers.
29. Broken Heart
Stacked romantic grief becomes fatal.
Required Pack: Lovestruck
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Multiple heavy romantic negatives close together, such as catching a partner cheating then breaking up, stack Very Sad moodlets until the Sim dies of a broken heart.
Prevention: Space out events, use Cheer Up and comfort socials, remove Sad moodlets before more drama.
Ghost effect: Faint heart particles and sobbing idles.
30. Broken Heart from Sweetheart’s Box
Chocolate on the verge of death.
Required Pack: Lovestruck
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Buy Sweetheart’s Box from phone, computer, or the stall by the SUDOR Gym in Ciudad Enamorada. Eating it alone while Very Sad and already near death triggers the fatal event.
Prevention: Do not eat the chocolates while Very Sad or in critical needs; share with someone to lift mood first.
Ghost effect: Drifting heart motes, clasped chest.
31. Overexertion at the Research Machine
Pushing past Exhausted on the EMRA machine.
Required Pack: Discover University
Who Can Die: Elder only
How It Happens: The Electromagnetic Research Archive Machine drains needs. Continuing while Exhausted can kill an elder. Younger Sims typically pass out instead.
Prevention: Take breaks, nap before long sessions, keep Energy high.
Ghost effect: Wheezy, hand-to-chest idles.
32. Catastrophic Meltdown
A Servo breaks down for good.
Required Pack: Discover University
Who Can Die: Servo only
How It Happens: Poor maintenance and damage lead to severe malfunction and a final meltdown.
Prevention: Regular tune ups, timely repairs, keep charge and condition healthy.
Ghost effect: Arcing sparks and smoke trails.
33. Mold (Deadly Moldinitis)
Toxic mould infection from the For Rent lot challenge.
Required Pack: For Rent
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Enable the Mold lot challenge. Toxic Mold Piles left uncleaned can infect nearby Sims. Infection progresses from Moldinitis to Severe Moldinitis to Deadly Moldinitis while the Sim is Dazed.
Prevention: Clean Toxic Mold quickly, dehumidify and repair leaks, avoid lingering near mould while Sick or Dazed.
Ghost effect: Greenish spores and coughing fits.
34. Murder of Crows
Provoked pet crow turns deadly.
Required Pack: Life & Death
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Use Provoke on the pet crow repeatedly. After enough provocation, the crow swarms and kills the Sim. Crows can be bought in Build Mode or from the merchant in Ravenwood.
Prevention: Be gentle with the crow, use positive interactions, stop when warned.
Ghost effect: Whirling feathers and scratch marks.
35. Random Death (Baleful Bog)
Repeated out-of-body dives become permanent.
Required Pack: Life & Death
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Submerge in the Baleful Bog in Ravenwood to become a temporary ghost. Do it too many times in a row and the change becomes irreversible. The game assigns a random death type from the packs you own.
Prevention: Limit submerges, let the effect wear off between attempts.
Ghost effect: Varies by the assigned death type.
36. Old Age (Peaceful Sleep)
A gentler Old Age passing.
Required Pack: Life & Death
Who Can Die: Elder only
How It Happens: Elder reaches end of lifespan and passes peacefully in bed.
Prevention: None within normal rules.
Ghost effect: Soft glow and calm demeanour.
37. Emotional Starvation (Fairy)
Fairy’s core need empties out.
Required Pack: Enchanted by Nature
Who Can Die: Fairy only
How It Happens: The Emotional Force need replaces Hunger and Bladder for fairies. Let it deplete for too long and the fairy dies.
Prevention: Keep Emotional Force topped up by absorbing or generating emotions, use fairy activities that restore it.
Ghost effect: Dim, fading aura; wings flicker.
38. Emotional Overload (Fairy)
Too much absorbed emotion tips into fatal states.
Required Pack: Enchanted by Nature
Who Can Die: Fairy only
How It Happens: Use Absorb Emotion and take an overload moodlet (marked with an exclamation when detected). Keep absorbing the same emotion to trigger Hysterical, Enraged, or Mortified, which can kill.
Prevention: Stop absorbing when overloaded, switch to neutral activities, let moodlets decay.
Ghost effect: Aura matches the emotion; erratic bursts.
39. Consumed by the Mother
StrangerVille’s plant horror wins.
Required Pack: StrangerVille (Game Pack)
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Enter the final fight against The Mother without the proper vaccine or preparation. Failure can result in the Sim being consumed.
Prevention: Craft the vaccine first, recruit allies, go in prepared.
Ghost effect: Spore motes and vine-like tendrils.
40. Poison (Selvadorada)
Ancient toxins finish the job.
Required Pack: Jungle Adventure (Game Pack)
Who Can Die: Young Adult to Elder
How It Happens: Traps, darts or bites inflict a Dazed poison that worsens to visible symptoms. Without an antidote, the Sim dies. Antidotes can be bought or traded for with bone dust.
Prevention: Carry an antidote, improve Selvadoradian Culture, avoid risky traps and relic mishaps.
Ghost effect: Sickly green fumes and staggering.
41. Steam (Sauna)
Overheating in the steam room.
Required Pack: Spa Day
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Sit in the sauna for too long, especially while the Superfluous Steaming moodlet is active or when already Hot.
Prevention: Take breaks, cool off with a shower, avoid sauna use when needs are low or temperature is high.
Ghost effect: Reddish steam aura; prefers warm rooms.
42. Spellcaster Overload
Magic backfire explosion.
Required Pack: Realm of Magic
Who Can Die: Spellcaster only
How It Happens: Cast too many spells in a short time to become Overcharged. Continue casting while Dangerously Overcharged to risk an explosive death.
Prevention: Let charge decay between spells, use charge-control perks, use Discharge or a Potion of Curse Cleansing if applicable, avoid spam casting high-tier spells.
Ghost effect: Arcane glow with drifting runes and sparks.
43. Random Death (Night Wraith Curse)
Curse drives needs down until another death triggers.
Required Pack: Realm of Magic
Who Can Die: Spellcaster only
How It Happens: Acquire the Night Wraith curse. The wraith stalks the Sim, causing intense fear and sleep loss. Low needs can push the Sim into another fatal state such as Hunger or Overexertion.
Prevention: Remove the curse with Decursify or Potion of Curse Cleansing, keep needs high, avoid stressful activities until cured.
Ghost effect: Matches the resulting death type; fearful idle animations.
44. Sunlight
Vampire burns away in the sun.
Required Pack: Vampires
Who Can Die: Vampire only
How It Happens: Stay outdoors during daylight as vampiric energy drains to zero. Faster in heatwaves or on open ground.
Prevention: Stay indoors or underground, go out at night, use Greater or Perfect Sun Resistance, wear sun protection items.
Ghost effect: Ashy, smouldering look; recoils from sunlight.
45. Rabid Rodent Fever
Untreated pet bite becomes fatal.
Required Pack: My First Pet Stuff
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: A neglected rodent bites the Sim, starting a worsening illness that ends in death if untreated.
Prevention: Clean the habitat regularly, research the disease on a computer, obtain and take the cure, or visit a vet.
Ghost effect: Feverish pallor with coughs and sneezes.
46. Wishing Well (Random death)
A bad wish goes very wrong.
Required Pack: Romantic Garden Stuff
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Make a wish while the well’s face shows a bad or hooded mood. Some outcomes kill instantly or turn the Sim into a ghost, assigning a random death type from packs you own.
Prevention: Check the well’s mood first, offer simoleons to improve odds, wait for a happy or neutral face.
Ghost effect: Varies by assigned death; faint coin and water motes.
47. Murphy Bed
Crushed by a folding bed.
Required Pack: Tiny Living Stuff
Who Can Die: Teen to Elder
How It Happens: Use or repair a low-reliability Murphy bed that snaps down on the Sim. Risk is higher without upgrades.
Prevention: Upgrade the bed reliability, repair promptly, avoid use when Exhausted or Tense.
Ghost effect: Slightly flattened comedic idle; rattles nearby furniture.
