How to Join
Unlike other careers, this one requires unlocking:
- Buy the License: Available in the Rewards Store for 3,000 Satisfaction Points.
- Guidry the Ghost: Place the Duplantier Dwelling haunted lot from your Library, befriend Guidry after he appears (usually 2 days, 9pm), and he may gift the license for free.
Once you have the license, join the career via the Freelancer Career menu. Choose Paranormal Investigator as your branch.
Career Progression
The Paranormal Investigator career does not use the usual 1–10 promotion ladder. Instead, Sims choose from three difficulty levels of gigs:

- Appease Spectres with offerings or friendly interactions.
- Remove Cursed Objects scattered around the lot.
- Perform Ceremonies using a Séance Circle or Séance Table to calm the house.
A successful gig will reward Simoleons, improve reputation, and may unlock special objects.

careers.promote Freelance - Effect: Instantly promotes your Sim in their chosen Freelancer branch, including Paranormal Investigator.
Final Thoughts
This career is best suited for Sims who enjoy spooky storytelling, supernatural gameplay, and freelance flexibility. It blends perfectly with the Haunted House lot type, Medium skill, and occult gameplay from Vampires or Realm of Magic.
