Sims 4 Mansion Restoration Challenge

“A legacy built from ashes…”

Introduction

Your Sim has just finished university when tragedy strikes. After the sudden loss of their parents, they inherit a mysterious and abandoned mansion. The house is filled with dust, broken furniture, and perhaps something even stranger hiding within its walls.

Starting with almost nothing, your Sim must slowly restore the mansion room by room while building a life, career, and family.

Will you rebuild the estate into a thriving home, or uncover secrets that were meant to stay buried?

This challenge is perfect for players who enjoy:

• Rags to riches gameplay
• Haunted house storytelling
• Renovation and mansion flipping
• Long-term legacy gameplay


Starting Setup

Create your Sim using the following guidelines.

SettingDetails
SimAny gender or life stage (Young Adult recommended)
TraitsGenius recommended, others are your choice
AspirationAny Knowledge aspiration
BackstoryYour Sim has completed university
Starting FundsSet household funds to §2,000
Initial LivingStart in a cheap rental or starter lot for a few Sim days
Main MoveMove into a large run-down mansion (Gallery or self-built)

The mansion should look abandoned or damaged to reflect its condition.


Core Challenge Rules

Follow these rules throughout the challenge.

No Cheats

Money cheats are not allowed. All Simoleons must be earned through gameplay.

Locked Mansion

When you first move in, most rooms must remain locked.

You may only unlock and renovate rooms once you meet the challenge requirements.

Repair Before Replace

If an item is broken or burnt:

• You must repair it first
• Only then can it be replaced or upgraded

Keep the Mansion Run Down

Dust, dirt, scorch marks, and clutter should remain until the room is officially renovated.

Haunted Gameplay (Optional)

Use the Haunted House Lot type if you own the Paranormal Stuff Pack to increase difficulty.


Renovation System

The mansion must be restored slowly.

Each room renovation costs §5,000.

You must save this money before renovating.

Once a room is renovated you may:

• fully redecorate it
• upgrade furniture
• unlock access to it permanently

Each room can only be renovated once.


Business Progression (Optional Rule)

To make the challenge more dynamic, you can run different businesses in each restored section of the mansion.

Example progression:

Greenhouse → Flower Shop
Garage → Craft Store
Basement → Antique Shop
Garden → Market Stall

Once a business reaches 5-Star rating, you must:

  1. Sell the business
  2. Open a new business in another part of the mansion

Mansion Restoration Goals

Use these goals to progress through the mansion.

Living RoomRepair furniture and remove burnt objects
KitchenCook 5 successful meals
Dining RoomHost a successful dinner party
BathroomUpgrade at least one plumbing object
BedroomSleep in a fully furnished clean bedroom
GardenPlant at least 5 flowers or trees
Bonus RoomsUnlock after earning a career promotion

Optional Point System

If you want extra challenge scoring, track points during gameplay.

Storytelling Ideas

Add role-play elements to deepen the challenge.

• Write letters to your parents each time you unlock a new room
• Pretend the ghost of a previous owner guides you through the mansion
• Turn the estate into a museum of family history
• Run an antique or thrift store connected to the mansion


Challenge Completion

The challenge is complete when:

• Every room in the mansion has been restored
• Your Sim has reached the top of their career
• The estate becomes a thriving family home or successful business
